These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of websites, landing pages, forms, questionnaires, and related services operated by August Research Services, LLC (“August,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) in connection with research recruitment and participation workflows.
By accessing or using these services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Purpose of the Services
August provides software, hosting, and operational services that assist research organizations and study teams in supporting research recruitment workflows and evaluating the eligibility of prospective participants.
August is not the sponsor, investigator, or operator of the research studies displayed through the services unless explicitly stated otherwise.
2. No Research Enrollment or Medical Advice
Use of the services does not itself:
- enroll you in a research study;
- guarantee eligibility or participation;
- create a provider-patient relationship; or
- constitute informed consent to participate in research.
Any decision regarding study participation is made by the applicable research team.
The services do not provide medical, psychological, legal, or emergency advice.
3. Information You Submit
You may be asked to provide information such as:
- contact information;
- responses to a study-related question; and
- other information relevant to research participation workflows.
You agree that information you submit will be truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
4. Platform Integrity and Security
August may collect and evaluate technical and operational information associated with use of the services in order to:
- maintain platform security and reliability;
- prevent misuse, abuse, or fraudulent activity;
- support research participation integrity; and
- generate limited operational outputs for research teams.
Use of methods intended to interfere with the services, misrepresent identity, automate submissions, or circumvent platform protections may result in restricted access to the services or removal from participation workflows.

5. Privacy
Use of the services is also governed by the August Privacy Policy.
Research studies accessed through the services may also be subject to separate informed consent materials, privacy notices, or institutional policies provided by the applicable research team.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information;
- impersonate another person;
- attempt unauthorized access to the services;
- use bots, scripts, automation tools, or other methods to interfere with the services;
- disrupt platform operation or security; or
- use the services for unlawful purposes.
7. Study Participation and Compensation
August does not determine final study eligibility, enrollment, compensation, or participation decisions.
Research teams are solely responsible for:
- determining whether an individual qualifies for a study;
- deciding whether an individual may participate;
- administering study procedures and communications; and
- determining compensation or incentives, if any.
8. Third-Party Services
The services may rely on third-party providers for hosting, communications, analytics, network protection, and infrastructure support.
August is not responsible for third-party websites or services linked through the platform.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.”
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AUGUST DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR AVAILABILITY.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the services.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AUGUST SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms become effective when posted.
Continued use of the services after updated Terms are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
